Graphic Design Club

WVU Graphic Design Club was established to serve as a collaborative creative community for all students who are passionate about design. It is a welcoming space for all creatives, not just graphic design majors.

The founding members, Lizzy Sikora, Mikeal Bates, Lindsey Gentil, Paige Burger, and Hope Pulfrey, were inspired to establish the club because they felt their talents and passion for Graphic Design could be utilized for something bigger than themselves. They believed in the impact of design on local communities and how it can bring people together. The club aims to inspire all students to creatively collaborate with others, and together, we can make a much more significant impact on our community than we ever would individually. Last year we were awarded the Outstanding New Student Organization Award by the University, which was incredibly humbling and I am very grateful that the work we have done at the university has been recognized. As a new club, a significant obstacle was networking within the WVU community and Morgantown area to promote the club and create meaningful connections with other organizations here on campus.

Starting from scratch is incredibly difficult, but the club overcame this by investing an immense amount of time and effort into branding, the Instagram profile, and creating connections and opportunities for ourselves, rather than waiting for them to come to us. We are currently in our second year, and in the first year, I served as Vice President; I now serve as President. I manage a team of six designers as well as the overall vision and direction of the club. I have experience in planning events and club meetings, managing finances, facilitating meetings, and more.
