TEDxWVU

In this project, I worked closely with the TEDxWVU team, alongside WVU Arts & Entertainment, who run the event. Initially, I met with the client at TEDxWVU, where I was informed that the theme was "Ignite Curiosity" and that they were looking for imagery of flames, matches - imagery that would communicate fire and the theme. Illustration is a great passion of mine, so I enjoy the process of logo creation and revisiting the drawing board over and over until the logo feels right.

I was gravitated towards the imagery of lightbulbs, because I thought that it was an untraditional yet effective symbol that was also dynamic. I included the small flame in the lightbulb to help enforce the theme and create a focal point in the design. The cool part of this project was that after designing, I got to see my work in person on the screen and in the promotions for the TEDxWVU event. I have been a fan of TED since I was younger, and grew up watching talks by John Green, Katherine Pearce - so it was surreal to see one of my designs on stage next to the TED logo.
